Home to the iconic Taj Mahal, Agra is a historic city in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state and one of the country’s most significant heritage destinations. Located on the banks of the river Yamuna and around 200 kilometres from Delhi, Agra rose to prominence during the Mughal era and still reflects its imperial past. The city is rich in architectural and cultural landmarks, featuring grand monuments, forts, and palaces that tell stories of emperors and empires. Alongside these are beautiful mosques, ancient temples, landscaped gardens, and public parks that add depth and variety to the city’s character. Beyond the Taj Mahal, Agra offers visitors a layered experience of history, art, and everyday life, making it far more than a single attraction and a timeless symbol of India’s cultural legacy.
