Luxor is a historic city located on the east bank of the Nile River in southern Egypt and is often described as one of the world’s greatest open air museums. The city is renowned for its remarkable collection of ancient monuments that reflect the grandeur of Egypt’s Pharaonic era. Major attractions include the majestic Luxor Temple and the vast Karnak Temple complex, both showcasing impressive architecture and detailed carvings. Across the river lies the famous Valley of the Kings, home to royal tombs that reveal the beliefs and rituals of ancient Egypt. Luxor is also home to important cultural institutions such as the Mummification Museum and the Luxor Museum, which provide deeper insight into ancient history and traditions. The Nile itself plays a central role in the city’s charm, with Nile cruises offering a relaxed way to experience the landscape and heritage.
